Week T-10: Loaf pans

Another idea I've been toying with for a long time is using the mini-cake pans (now renamed mini-loaf pans) for small meatloaves. I made a batch of Amy Sherman's Gremolata Meatballs (see www.CookingWithAmy.com for details) - for some friends with a new baby, and with the leftover meat mixture, I made some mini-meatloaves. They are fast-cooking, and just the right size for two servings for dinner or a dinner and a lunch. Oh, and they freeze beautifully. Inspired to write, I just defrosted and ate some.

But the more important part of the title of this post is that we are now eight weeks out from Shannon and Jim's return to the Bay Area. While good news, this induces a bit of panic, actually. I'm down to four cookbooks, three bottles of wine (how could this be?), and this mess:

One jar green peppercorns
Some sage meat seasoning
Half a jar of tamarind paste (plus recipe)
W/S Meyer lemon/rosemary marinade
"Better than Bullion", mushroom flavor
Williams Sonoma Mango Peach Salsa
One-half jar roasted red chili paste
One bag poppy seeds
Two containers sea salt
One container veggie demi glace
One bottle turmeric
One vanilla bean
tube pesto

What does one even do with turmeric? Tamarind? Twenty things, eight weeks, the odds are against me...
